Thunderbird Island

The original owners, the Larkin family purchased "Blueberry Island" (the island was later named "Thunderbird Island") from the Crown in 1904.  Before building the family planted over 100 trees on the island - many of these trees remain today.  In the early 1940's the Larkin family commissioned Page and Steele, Architects, to design their project.  The builder of the day, Jack Perks Jr., was supplied with product from the family's own lumberyard with the result that the substantial cottages are all constructed to a very exacting standard, using western red cedar and douglas fir.
