One of Pointe au Baril's most historic island properties Kilkare Island is 5.12 acres in size and is comprised of a 4 bedroom main cottage and a one slip boat house plus a utility building.

The period cottage (circa 1920's) features a full length screened porch and a floor to ceiling fireplace hand chiseled from island stone.

The cottage is perfectly sited on a high promontory to view the boat travel at a distance through Shawanaga Bay and Georgian Bay's glorious sunsets.

The island is powered by a solar energy system and a back-up generator although a hydro connection is readily available across a small channel.

The many features of this island - elevated building site, deep water protected harbour, access to hydro and spectacular open water views - provide an opportunity to create an extended family compound. Alternatively the character and ambience of the present cottage could be preserved and enhanced  through a well executed renovation.

Kilkare island in ideally situated a short boat ride from either the local marina and the famed Ojibway Club - the area's centre for social and recreational activities.  Its location on Shawanaga Bay provides easy access to some of the great picnic sites on the Georgian Bay - The McCoys, The Limestones and The Minks.
